Kaslo Curling Funspiel: Feb 17th.

The Kaslo Curling Club will be celebrating this milestone with a 12 team, one day Funspiel on Saturday, February 17th. The emphasis is on fun, and we are welcoming new curlers, old curlers and past curlers to get on the ice.

There will be two 4 end games, each taking at most 1 ½ hours.
Costumes are encouraged so bring out your old curling sweater, or dress from any period in the last 125 year. Be an 1890’s miner or Victorian lade, 1920’s flapper or gangster, 1960’s hippie, or 1970’s disco star. Use your imagination as there will be a special prize for the best-dressed team.

But wait, there’s more!!

The Kaslo Curling Club is also the oldest curling club in BC, founded in 1895, and we will be celebrating our history along with other “Kaslo 125” birthday activities taking place in 2018. We will be showcasing archive photos, fun facts, trophies, equipment and other local curling memorabilia dating all the way back to 1893.

Even if you are not in the Funspeil, come up to the club that day and see what pieces of curling memorabilia we’ve unearthed from basements and attics around Kaslo.

Did you know.. Kaslovians kept curling rocks in the back of their pickups as ballast.

Feb 26 : RDCK Budget meeting in the LV.

From Director Watson

North Kootenay Lake residents Lardeau and North:

The RDCK does an annual budget roadshow to present the proposed budget for the upcoming year and ask the residents for their input. This budget is where we determine taxation rate based on service demands. Historically the meeting for Kaslo and Area D has been held in Kaslo. This year, there will be a meeting at the Lardeau Valley hall on February 26th at 2pm to be more accessible to our remote residents.
