October 16th at the Kaslo Food Hub!

* World Food Day celebrationworld-food-day
* Naloxone Training

This Tuesday, October 16th is World Food Day!

The Kaslo Food Hub has a great afternoon of fun planned, and an opportunity for you to learn about all our food security programs. Bring a friend or the family, enjoy some fresh baked apple pie, and get up to speed on all the programs and services we offer!

Make sure to check out Mark Northey’s edible mushrooms of Kaslo display and our hands-on apple-pie making demo with pastry chef Leticia Hamilton.

Last but not least, you can also bring any of your 2018 home canning creations for our canning and processed food swap. Trade jar for jar with your neighbours. Who knows, you may go home with the best chutney, salsa, pickles or jam you’ve ever tasted!
Tuesday October 16th, 11am-1pm at Kaslo Food Hub….

Naloxone Training

Naloxone Training at the Kaslo Food Hub with Chelsea Helmer (registered psychiatric nurse, emergency mental health services). Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose.  Since our Province declared a public health emergency in 2016, community-based naloxone distribution and training has increased.  You are invited to help respond to this crisis by becoming informed, carrying a naloxone kit and becoming trained in how to use one.  The overdose crisis impacts our whole community.  People use substances for a variety of reasons and could be at risk no matter what their reason for using (prescription or illicit, regular use or occasional use).  Come and learn more.  Bring your questions. Chelsey will provide trainings throughout her time at the Food Hub. Each training takes 10-15 minutes and you receive a free Naloxone overdose prevention kit.
