Some Awesome August programs coming to The Langham!

** Those of you fortunate enough to have caught Sarah Jane at a Kaslo house concert some years ago know she is a natural talent, lovely singer, traditionalist at heart, and a special talent.
Tom Power of CBC Radio’s “q” has said of her:
“Drawing upon traditional melodies that almost biologically are instantly singable, but combining them with emotions, sentiments and stories that are relatable even now. Stan Rogers was able to do it, Ron Hynes was able to do it, Kate McGarrigle was able to do it – and Sarah Jane Scouten is able to do it.”
After making us all squirm, writhe, and laugh out loud with last year’s show “A Womens Guide to Peeing Outside”, Kaslo grad and up-the-laker Holly Brinkman comes hiking back into town with a new fringe sensation designed to tickle your funny bone, make you blush, and help you gain a whole new perspective on summer camp.
NOTE: Mature Audiences Only Please (16+)
** Author Emily Ursuliak reads from her inventive poetic book that retells the unusual story of an incredible trip her grandmother and her grandmother’s best friend undertook in 1951.
“Throwing the Diamond Hitch is at once a play, a poetry book, a travel journal, a history, and a western. Ursuliak tells a timeless story of young women who refuse to be tied down by convention. Tough, tender, well-crafted and funny, this book poignantly captures the spirit of adventurous womanhood.”
– Joan Crate, author of Black Apple
Emily will be joined by Nelson poet Jane Byers and Kaslo’s very own Nancy Gibson.
…And See You at The Langham!
